You know you have to eat well to stay healthy and trim. But then the work day starts and you find you need a boost. You search around and find nothing healthy to eat. The candy machine is not far and you really need a pick-me-up! There goes your much planned out diet. Here are ways to improve your eating habits.
There is a solution to this dilemma but it takes a little thinking ahead. If you don?t have a problem with diabetes or hypoglycaemia, then prepare fruit to take to work and eat it when hunger attacks. This works wonders for weight loss. If you are sensitive to sugar, then seek out low fat snacks in your grocery store next time.
Include fruit more in your life. Fruit is a great way to start your day as well. Include it with every meal. You will feel full and start to curb those nervous eating habits.
Food usually plays another role other than satisfying hunger. You eat to hide from pain. The ?oh so temporary? pleasure of something good on your tongue for that fleeting moment is enough to make you forget about your health. Then you fool yourself into thinking that you will run it off tomorrow at the gym, or after work. None of those gym dates actually come true as you are bombarded with requests of your time at home and at work. So all you have done is set yourself back. Why not execute a pre-emptive strike. Keep healthy foods around you. Cut fruit or veggies are great snacks.
As well, you really have to wonder what it is that you are trying to get away from with that candy bar. I once told a client that she could eat a handful of popcorn if she was hungry. I did notice boxes of popcorn being consumed the next time I met her for an appointment. Of course, her response was ?But you said I could eat popcorn?. Well too much of anything is unhealthy and leads to weight gain. Ask yourself, why are you eating? What are you trying to escape? Then talk to a trained practitioner about your issues. Get yourself away from eating to temporarily make you feel good but increase your weight and not solve the problem that you are running away from.
Get your eating patterns reviewed by a trained nutritionist or dietician. I once had a client who ate business dinners a lot and felt it was leading to her weight gain. My question to everyone in this situation is, ?Why do you feel you have to finish your dinner at a business meeting?? You can either leave half or ask for it to be wrapped to go. Make sure you are aware of how much you are eating at any given meal. If you go for seconds or thirds, wait and ask yourself, is this going to be too much and am I eating out of anxiety than hunger? More than likely your first plate of food was sufficient to satisfy nutritional requirements and hunger. If you feel hungry after eating a meal, then wait half an hour. This is the time it takes for your stomach to record how full it is and send that information back to your brain. Drink a glass of water in the meantime as well.
